Everyone has something in their closet the is taking up space; you don't wear it, use it, but you still don't want to get rid of it. It can be your grandmother's Chanel scarf that you were given when she passed. You love it, and you love that it reminds you of her, but you have yet to work a scarf into your everyday look. It can be a 70s vintage dress you bought years ago because you loved the print, but soon realized that polyester is an unforgiving and uncomfortable fabric. These items say hidden. It is something you love but, it it's current state, you can't use. What do you do?
Working in fashion for over 10 years, I came across this problem often from clients, designers, and stylists. What to do with all this beautiful excess that is not getting a chance to be seen? What would be a great way to showcase these textiles and prints that would also be functional?
The answer: MAKE A CLUTCH! And thus began the design journey of Alexandra New York.
